For a good cause!

Every now and then I get requests to participate in these training charity event, that are becoming more and more frequent these days (which is awesome) – but since I work almost every weekend – and get booked pretty far in advance it’s sometimes a challenge to get it on the schedule.

I do give money to different organizations that matters to me – but it would be nice to feel that I’m actually doing something as well – more than that.
So, when the lovely Åsa asked me if I could teach a class at the Young Cancer benefit event she’s hosting in the end of november, it felt great that I actually am in Stockholm that day – and can do it.

So sunday november 25th I’m teaching the brand new BODYBALANCE®59 release.

If you wanna join me – you need to sign up (since it’s a limited amount of spots) by emailing Åsa at asa@vlhalsa.se

You can read more about the event here.
I’m teaching in the afternoon though, 2 pm – 3 pm.
Hope to see you there!

NIKE BLAST 2013!

The coolest – most prestigious – event is back!
I’m talking (writing) about THE NIKE BLAST, of course! A weekend where the best presenters and lecturers in the industry are gathered along with the most dedicated and most awesome participants ever.

The site opens up for registration december 12th!

EGO BOOST :)

I’m repeating the same as Magnus wrote today at his blog.
The brand new november issue of Fitness Magazine is out in stores now.
Not only is it a super fancy cover 😉 but there’s also a multipage series of exercises that I’m showing.

Awesome strenght exercises to tighten up your ass and thighs, to get ready for the ski-season… Yep, I wrote it. SKI-SEASON! Ha!

But, if “getting ready” = being a fierce skier – I do not know. But I think so…
I’m practically a down hill pro now after running through the program a few times.
Or, not! But I did become wonderfully sore after the training sessions.

The exercises are compiled by a really cool trainer. Maybe the best!
(along with David and Toby ;))

So, go buy it now!!
And, it’s obvioulsy a lot of other great stuff to read about as well.

Werk-Update!

October’s been an usually relaxed month for me.
Besides BEATZ I have actually held a few weekends off – and then the KRAFT convention got cancelled pretty much in the last minute. This have given me opportunity to something I hardly ever do, sub a few classes.

So if you wanna take a few extra classes with me, I’m subbing:
Tomorrow, Saturday – street 12.00 Odenplan. We’ll do the Starships-choreo.
Sunday – core 18.00 also at Odenplan, and then next saturday – BODYBALANCE® 10.00 at St Eriksbron.

From november 1st it’s back to normal again – and I’m working every weekend until x-mas. Check the news-page out (here at my website) if you wanna stay tuned where (and when) I’m at – if you might wanna join me for an event near you.

Film shoot in NYC…

When I was in NYC last month I met my friend, co-worker and fellow Nike Master Trainer Fredrik, who was there with his boyfriend that was on a work mission in NYC.

His boyfriend have a band, and they were there shooting a music video for one of their songs – which is a contribution for Switzerland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2013.

They needed a cool NYC-gal in a sequence 😉 so, of course I was in, when they asked.
So in a brief moment you can actually see me lip sync. How about that?
Here’s the result

And if you’re in to german and get how to do it; VOTE!!

New Nike-favs!

Once in a while there comes a pair of ROCKSTAR-pants from Nike.
They always do kick ass clothes, but every now and then there is a model/style that you just instantly fall in love with and never ever wants to take off.

Like the freestyle pants a few years ago for example (that Les Mills International have copied for the Les Mills collection – even with the striped ribbing at waist)

Now there’s a new favorite in the building. And it’s a men’s sweat pants.

I have them in grey and black – and they’re just awesome to do some booty-popin’ in…

They might as well be your new favorite too.

Your worst is someone else’s best!

When I was in high school I went to the dance program – and I guess our school were a bit into contemporary/modern dance,  in our training as well as in our dance history lessons as in the performances we went to see every week.
Since then I’ve loved to see all kinds of contemporary pieces. Some of them are brilliant – some of them are super weird – some of them are both!

Today I had one of the most successful dancers/choreographers on the swedish contemporary scene I’d say – and I’ve seen a lot of her work through the years.

Before class she said; I’ve pulled a hamstring so I’m gonna be super careful and take it really easy in all the forward folds.
During class, her super careful and easy was a lot more flexible then most people in class, with healthy hamstrings.

Which once again made it clear – everything is relative.
My truth isn’t necessary your truth. Especially in yoga.

That’s what I like about it, among other things.
I teach yoga in a gym environment – majority of the participants are not 100% dedicated yogis and yoginis.
But, the past months I’ve seen such a huge improvement in class when it comes to work on its own terms – and work on the level that benefits you at the most.

Self-discovery, understanding and development.
For that, I’m grateful, happy and proud.

Namaste! 🙂

The GFX of the week – Raise the Bar!

The latest buzz is to get a buzzed – after busting your ass off.

Are you a little bit sad that you almost always (or at least quite often) miss out on social activities and events because you’ve chosen to commit to your training?!

Would you like to replace your after workout snack such as smoothies, wolf berries and acai berries (and what ever it is that all the it-healthy-bloggers claim that they are having) to a glass of wine or a cocktail and some easy going mingle once in a while?

Well – in that case – you are definitely not alone of feeling that way.
A up an coming trend in New York City is to establish concepts as “Bootcamp and Beer” or “Workout and Wine” on the regular fitness schedule.

Rogue Female Fitness is only one of the studios that’s going all in for this happy hour-workout-concept and with the class Raise the Bar they address to women in their 20s and 30s who are fed up to forgo happy hours, afterworks and any kind of social events to go training every night.

– Fit women shouldn’t have to miss out on happy-hour socializing, says the founders of the studio.
It starts with a class of high intense training, cardio & toning,  followed by an after work-out mingle. Sweat, socialize and network with a bunch of like-minded

– We look at it as fitness for the real woman who really enjoys her life on both ends of the spectrum and isn’t willing to sacrifice either fitness or fun, says one of three founders of the studio about the concept in an interview online.

And – they seems to do pretty well, since they launched the concept about a year ago, they’ve expanded.

Train hard – play hard? 😉

The GFX of the week – Flo-Yo

One of the hottest trends right now in the US is Flo-Yo = Floating Yoga = Yoga on a paddleboard.
It may sound weird – but it looks awesome.

From the “simple challenge” to be able to stand on the board while going from one point to another, the regular stand up paddle boarding (SUP) have developed into doing full yoga sequences on the actual board.

The classes are led by an instructor and all together, you paddle out to find a calm spot. Well up on the spot – the actual yoga session can be anything between 30-90 minutes. Obviously the classes are a bit smaller than if you go to a gym or studio.

From a class at Key West Stand Up Paddle Board Yoga in Florida, which is one of the places that offer classes in this hot fast growing trend. (pic borrowed from TODAY Health)
This is huge trend on the east coast, and it starts to take off on the west coast as well.

A celebrity who is said to like Flo-Yo is Jennifer Aniston (who seems to be in to trends in general I’d say – it’s quite often she is mentioned when it’s something related to new fitness & training trends)

Equinox magazine wrote an article online about paddleboard yoga recently – and here you can see the video they published along with it, with Equinox Yogi Dice Iida-Klein from LA, going all in out in the Hamptons.
