One more work-weekend!

This weekend I’m doing an initial training module, in BODYJAM® here in Stockholm.
It’s my fourth BJ-module of 2011 – and it’s also my last module of the year.
It’s a lot of “last’s” these days, right?
The crowd is really international this time, besides the swedish peeps there are two danes and three norwegians.
The entire Nordics are covered, almost! It was actually supposed to come a finish gal as well – but didn’t.

First day is done – and tomorrow it’s time for the first presentation – and the second as well.
As always, I’m really excited to see what they’re bringing.
For me – it’s all about giving feedback and be supportive, nice – but fair and just all over the place to get them to dance their asses of.

Looking forward to a good day tomorrow.

Jazz finale!

SATS have launched their new website.
And as you know – if you’ve been following my blog (or been to my classes) they have been to several classes to shoot some pics and film clips.

Here’s the pic that represents jazz on SATS.

Borrowed from SATS website

Very jazzy if I may say so myself- and also, it really is equivalent to the standard picture of how jazz is – isn’t it?
Random that they actually managed to come to one of the very rare occasions where I taught a muscial routine, lol!

Tonight – is the last jazz class of the year.
Hope to see all my beautiful jazzdancers then – but if not – I’ll see you january 12th 2012!!

How ever – if you want to dance with me before that, come join us at Beatz Event january 7th!
Stay tuned at www.facebook.com/BeatzEvents

Fall Finale – don’t stumble at the finish line…

New weeks – new possibilites!
Don’t you just wanna hit those who update their facebook-status with this, every monday morning? Hahahaha!
Well – it is a new week, and it is also the last week of the fall schedule-11.

Don’t miss the Beatz Event – saturday january 7th!!

A great way to kick start your body and your mind after the holiday rest, and an even greater way to start the upload for the Nike Blast.
Yaay!!!
See you there – and hopefully at class before that!

Grey-day-analysis! (it was a while ago…)

The QW 4 round is over and out. My last qw’s of 2011 took place yesterday in Göteborg.
The jam-crowd were off the hook, awesome!
And the balance-crowd were really skilled, and the very most of them were also super sweet, open and vibrant.

Then it was a small click of people that put my brain office to work for real.
Yeaaaah – I can feel some analytical coming up… so you might as well just stop reading if you’re not into that!

I’ve chose to work with what I do for many reasons, and one of all the things I love is that I get to surround myself with happy, positive, outgoing people that also are in this business cause they are passionated about it.

I know that I don’t do super important things that affects the world in the same way as the people that’s in the army and are willing to die to protect their country, or the people that spend their life to find a cure for horrible diseases, or the hero-people that becomes fire fighters.. to mention a few. The list can go on forever with examples of heroic people in different ways, but I think you get my point.

I try to help to make the world a better place in the tiny ways I can, like giving  money to charity, giving clothes to the homeless help organizations and by just being there for people around me if and when they need me.

And, I’m happy and grateful that I get to spend my everyday life in a happy, unpretentious, safe and really positive environment.

And the word unpretentious stands for a quality I appreciate a lot in people.
For me – the meaning of it is: not to take things, or oneself, to seriously – and to see the fun in tiny things, and to be able to enjoy the moment even though it’s not necessary an officially grand moment.

And once again – for me – it is not equal to taking the easy way out or not putting any efforts into things you want to acchieve.

For example:
If I have an initial training, I expect the participants to make the most out of the weekend, and to work really hard.
To put all their effort and energy they can into it, simply: to do their very best.
So, yes – I want them to take it seriously in that way, but it’s more out of respect for them self and to get value for the money, time and energy they are spending – along wih the fact that I believe they will feel better about them self, rather than if they aren’t even trying.

But at the same time – I want them to see the big picture.
It’s “only” dance or training… and it’s a good thing.
So while working hard – why not have fun at the same time?! And don’t be afraid to make mistakes.
Nothing will break – no one will die if we make a mistake.
And to just have an open mind – and open attitude and take joy in that we’re able to spend hours and days of doing the things we love so much.

If we’re getting stressed out by a difficult move or pose, or a not-super-cool-song – if that’s our stress.. then we have a great life. Fo shizzle.

So why DO you wanna attend an activity or education or session that you have chosen for your self with an attitude that everything is wrong – right from the start? With out not want to say hello, return a smile or even eye contact? Or share your opinion as if you’re in an angry argue?!

Bad days are allowed – but bad attitudes are not – if I get to say.

So the biggest THANK YOU and lots of LOVE and respect to all of the people that make my life GREAT!

The people I know and the people that just are brushing by in a quick meeting… all of you have an impact and I’m so happy for all the positive, happy and sparkling energy that exists in our business.
It will outlive the few negative vibes that will pass by every now and then.

I know some of you might call me naive – but I’ve said it before: I rather be naive than cynical and bitter – and I hope I stay like that still when I’m really really old, and doing my yoga on the roof top. Cause – yeah – by then I will have a roof top. 🙂

The Blasting continues…

February is the month for Nike Nordic.
All three Nike Blasts are lined up the weekends after each others.
2012 I’ll present in Stockholm and in Helsinki, Finland.

I’ve been to Nike Finland several times, I think this will be the 6th time. And it’s always a pleasure. I’m doing a whole bunch of classes there:

AfHo – as I’m presenting in Stockholm the week before.
A funky fusion with Afro & House as the strongest influences.

Sassy Jazz – A dance class with the roots in the traditional jazz technique, with a show dance-twist on it. Inflenced as well from contemporary, musicals and mtv. Lights, camera & action!

Pilates/Core  – Traditional pilates on a matt and/or functional core exercises that build your strengt from the inside and out. A great complement to dance classes for example. Improve your technique within other way of training by having a great core stability.

BODYJAM®60-team with the Funky Fin; Kimmo!

And finally, I’m doing a choreography workshop. How to experiment with pretty simple moves within different styles, and how to use the music at its most. Sort of!

So, all my finish (and nearby) friends – hurry up to register – and I hope to see you feb 11th 2012!

Here’s me and awesome Eddie from the last year’s Nike Blast Helsinki!!

Xmas Schedule – and more…

The fall semester is about to end, and it’s only a couple of weeks left.
I hope to see you these last weeks as well though.
You know it’s now – when it’s dark outside, when you might feel a lack of energy along with stress coming up for the christmas – this is when you need the boost of energy and endorphins you get from the training the MOST! And, the sense of cozy calmness that will follow after…
So, don’t give up just yet!
Stick with your training all the way – and then have a real quality recovery/rest over the holiday.
That’s how I’m gonna do it this year at least. : )

I’ll be teaching all week, next week – which is the last week of fall schedule.
After that – I’m teaching:

Nike Top Instructor 2012!

Are you an awesome, fun and inspiring instructor?!
Then you might wanna accept this challenge: apply for Nike Top Instructor 2012.

It’s a competition that Nike Sweden organizes for the third year in a row, along with the Nike Blast.
And, I’m working with the project this year as well.

You need to be located in Sweden to join the contest – and you should teach freestyle dance classes.
Which means – where you make the choreo and choose the music.

So, if you’re up for a fun challenge – send in a film.
If you need a little push forward – send in!
And, if you are one of those instructors that had a lot of opinions on last year’s competitors – then you should definitly send in. 😉

If not now – when?

You will find all info you might need on the website. So check it out!

The winner of Nike Top Instructor 2011; the sweet and talented Åsa Ingelög is now a member of the Nike trainer team. And she rocked at the best of the best-convention earlier this fall.

More NIKE BLAST!!

The NIKE BLAST site opened up last wednesday, nov. 30th. And in this very moment it’s 1466 people that have payed and signed up.

One year I helped Lina out – that’s the organizer and the brain behind this amazing event – at the office. I worked with her for three months, nov, dec and jan – for the event of 2007.
And one of my assignments was to manually type in all the people that registred.
Back then you signed up by sending in a fax with your class selections – and then I had to sync the fax with their payment that came by mail – and by mail I mean snail mail.
It took like forever. Haha!

It was only five years ago… These days, it’s like a totally different event.
2012 is the 18th year in a row for the Nike Blast!
And my 10th year as a presenter. It feels awesome!!

The first time I visited the convention I was just a tiny teen, still in high school (gymnasiet)I went to the dance program… and one of my class buddies was performing at Nike – so we went out super early saturday morning to look at her…
Then –  I was totally unaware of dance as a way of training…and conventions… and Nike… more than as a brand of sneakers and clothes.
But as I was watching a class with Ms Gustafsson right there and then, I thought to myself – I wanna be on a stage like that too…doing my thing… without really knowing exactly what they’re were doing – or what the purpose was – or what kind of people that came to a thing like this…
And it actually didn’t took that long until I was there – doing my own thing.

I was overwhelmed of the glowing energy that was all over the venue… and I still am. That’s the one of the things that makes the NIKE BLAST so special. That magic glowing energy is still there – and it’s a very special feel that you need to experience for yourself.

So – I hope I’ll see you in Globen the first weekend of february 2012.
There’s still plenty of spots left in several classes and lectures. You don’t wanna miss this happy BOOST of inspiration & energy!

Monday Music Tips!

How about Drake’s album that released in mid november?
I love it!
This is one of the songs that’s been played frequently in my classes (and on my iPhone-playlist)
Love the beat that kicks in, and the backpart… and, obviously Drake’s voice, pure magic!
So, take care people!

Sweet and sour…

Yesterday was a sweet day… at least the beginning of it.

Yesterday’s work = to teach a BODYBALANCE™ quarterly at SATS Hötorget.
It was a packed class – and more than half of the instructors that participated was my own awesome co-workers from SATS, and among the rest it was no more than a lot of familiar (and just lovely) faces.

When it is on the home ground – city wise – but also literally – at my club where I teach every week with a crowd of well known people, that I work with – it can either be just extra awesome, warm and positive… Or it might be just the opposite, a little extra harsh.

But I chose for it to be the first option – and I had a great time balancing with a lot of talented instructors.
And – I love the release of 55. (maybe not fully unexpected)

Later on it was christmas party time with my home club, SATS Fridhemsplan. I’m not exaggerating when I’m saying that this was like the first time ever I could join a social event with Fridhemsplan. Since I’m working a lot of weekends I’m never around – or available for these kinds of events.

I ended up right next to the spinning instructor that thinks blogging is the most ridiculous ever… and he didn’t pass up an opportunity to mock me for mine.
But – I can take it. 🙂
I also mock blogs every now and then – those who only contains a lot of food-pics; break fast, snacks, lunch, snacks, dinner etc. Hehe!
We’re all allowed to a free opinion, right?

Unfortunately – during the dinner – the migrain from hell joined me.
She (or he – more likely a he 😉 ) have been in the background for a few days – and when I was done with the work, and had an entire day off ahead of me – it sort of exploaded.
So – I sneaked out right before the party was about to begin for real. Isn’t that just typical?
But – after yet another hard core and just awesome – thai massage , several pain killers and some sunday-slowday-recovery it feels a bit better.

This upcoming week, I’ll be here all week and teaching my classes.
This is also the last week before xmas schedule at HoS.
Hope to see you somewhere!
